One time Bhattar walked in to see Namperumal and Thayar who were behind a curtain. Namperumal asked Bhattar to leave as He wanted to be alone with Thayar. Bhattar immediately left.

Later Namperumal asked Bhattar to come back and he promptly did.

Namperumal then asked Bhattar what his thoughts were about Him and Thayar when he was asked to leave and when he was asked to come back.

Bhattar replied "When you asked me to leave, I thought of you as the King and Queen of the devas. When you asked me to come in, I thought of you as Kooratthazhvan and Andal".

Namperumal then told Bhattar "Think of us as the latter only from this time onward".
