Nanjeeyar asked Bhattar once "Why approach the Lord through the mediation of pirAtti?"

Bhattar replied "Due to Her presence with the Lord, kAkAsura who was a great sinner was pardoned. Whereas, due to Her absence, Ravana who committed the lesser sin was killed. Lakshmana was asked by Rama to stay in Ayodhya. Yet, through Her presence, Lakshaman was able to change even His word. Others such as Vibeeshana and Guha also got what they wanted only in Her presence."
