Once Bhattar was talking about the section in Valmiki Ramayana where Sri Rama offers protection to Vibeeshana.

A person who was listening asked Bhattar "What is the gathered meaning of this abhaya pradhAna prakaraNa?"

Bhattar replied "Sugreeva protested against offering protection to Vibeeshana stating that 'those who have committed sins are unacceptable'. Sri Rama showed the philosophy that 'Sins and good deeds are not worth appreciating. All souls can surrender from whatever state they are in at that time'."
