One time Bhattar was doing Thiruppavai upanyasam at Srirangam. When he was discussing the meaning of the phrase "yAm peRu sammAnam" in the 27th pasuram, the prasAdam for Lord Sri Ranganatha was brought around. Seeing that, Bhattar exclaimed "Here comes our prize ('yAm peRu sammAnam vandhadhu')".
