Meaning:
dayA - Mercy upAgamat - attained mudam - happiness. shama dama kshamA: - Control of the senses, modesty and patience bhUShitA: - became decorated. viraktirapi - Indifference to lowly things ala~NkR^itA - that is decorated vimala vidyayA - by the spotless knowledge shobhate - shined. viShNu bhakti: - Devotion to Sriman Narayana muhu: sumati samskR^itA - that is frequently matured by good knowledge lasati - is present. amI guNA: - These qualities upAshritA: santa: - have attained jagat gurum - Lokachariar, viveka janakam - who creates common sense and knowledge, bhAnti - and are present.
Vyakhyana Saram:
Mercy is the quality of feeling empathy on seeing someone else's difficulty.
Virakti is the quality of indifference toward things that are not worthy of
being sought (that is, seeking only Him). Vidya is the true knowledge. Bhakti
is devotion to Sriman Narayana and His devotees.
Desikan is stating in this shloka that all these qualities were formed with Pillai Lokachariar.
