Sri PBA Swami's Sarartha Deepikai:
The meanings of the Dvaya mantra are now beginning to be explained.

The Dvaya mantra is made of two parts (khanda). In the first part, refuge is taken at His divine feet through the mediation of Periya Piratti (Mahalakshmi). Through "srimad", Mahalakshmi is approached first. Through "nArAyaNa caraNau sharaNam prapadye", His divine feet are seeked as the means.

In the second part, the prayer is made that service be performed to the Divine Couple. "srimathe" shows the Divine Couple. The fourth case on the "nArAyaNa" ("Aya") shows the prayer to perform service. The "nama:" shows the removal of the obstacles to the service.
