Meaning:
The Sun's rays have spread in all directions. The bright
light from the stars that are gathered together has
dimmed. The bright light of the cool Moon has also gone
down. The darkness has been lifted. The early morning
wind carries with it the sweet smell from the shells of
the betel trees in the rich groves. O Lord of Srirangam!
who carries the powerful and very bright discus in Your
big divine hand, please wake up and grace us.
Vyakhyana Saram:
The Sun came out such that the light of the stars faded.
Its rays have spread everywhere. The Moon which is the
Lord of the stars has also dimmed. The early morning
wind has captured and brought with it the sweet smell
of the shells of the betel trees in the divine gardens.
Please wake up so that we can enjoy the beauty of Your
divine hand and the divine discus that it holds.
In the first song, Azhvar said that the Sun dawned at the top of the eastern mountain. In this song, he says that the same Sun is now spreading its rays everywhere.
sudaroLi ... :
The rays of the Sun have spread everywhere. Therefore,
the light from the stars has faded.
sudaroLi parandhana sUzhthisaiyellAm:
The light from the Sun has spread in all directions. You
should wake up so that the divine light from Your divine
body spreads everywhere ("tejasAm rAshimUrjitam",
"payilum sudaroLi").
thunniya ... :
The bright light from the stars gathered close together
has dimmed and so too has the cool Moon who is considered
their leader. You are the protector of all; Your divine
feet is everyone's refuge; You are complete in all
arts; shouldn't You, who have the cool and perfect moon-
like face (as opposed to the actual Moon who face is
imperfect), not be waking up?
The stars which are dispersed in the sky like pearls have dimmed and so too has their leader, the Moon. Because You did not wake up and give them Your grace, they have changed form.
padaroLi ... :
The moon that ruled in the darkness of the night has
now faded.
pAyiruL aganRadhu:
The darkness which was responsible for making the moon
look bright, has now left, similar to thieves hiding
when the king comes out.
pAyiruL:
The darkness that was spread everywhere.
aganRadhu:
(The darkness) has left.
paimpozhil ... :
Similar to those who concentrate on their pleasures
after waking up.
paimpozhil kamugin ... :
The shells in the betel trees in the green gardens
have opened and the early morning breeze is blowing
everywhere carrying their sweet smell.
madalidaikkIRi vaNpALaigaL nARa:
The strength of the betel shells lies in giving their
sweet smell to the wind.
vaigaRai:
The dawn.
mArutham:
The wind. The sweet smell spread everywhere as the
early morning wind came carrying with it the smell
of the open shells of the betel trees. Unlike a
general breeze ("manRUdu thenRalulA"), this is the
early morning breeze. After it blew, can You still
be sleeping?
adaloLi ... :
Just as You destroyed many enemies using Your Discus,
You should show us the divine beauty of Your Hand and
the Discus it holds and remove our personal enemies
which is being trapped in the five senses. Please
wake up and show us this beautiful sight.
The Discus whose brightness is such that it makes the Sun's rays look like fireflies. Your divine hand which has great strength, has great brightness, which holds the very bright Discus, and which is so beautiful that even when it has nothing on it, it has to be protected from the evil eye.
thadakkai:
The big hand that can hold the great Discus.
arangaththammA:
Can You be sleeping in the place where You came to
save Your devotees?
