Varavaramuni Ashtakam Meanings

Shloka 1:
Who, even when going to sleep, experiences Periya Perumal who is the supreme tattvam, and then rises, I salute that Manavala Mamunigal.

Shlokas 2-4:
Who wakes up early in the morning, praises Sri Ranganatha with the divine suktis of Pillai Lokachaiar and other acharyas, cleans the self with the divine, lotus-filled Kaveri waters, thinks of the Lord's divine qualities such as sausheelyam, and has tears in his divine eyes while moving his divine body a little due to goose bumps, and makes the water pure by immersing in it with great devotion, I pray to that Manavala Mamunigal.

Shlokas 5-7:
Who takes a bath as per sastric rules, then wears the kashayam, thirumaN kAppu and thulasi garlands, recites Thirumantram, reaches the sannidhi of Periya Perumal surrounded by Srivaishnavas, explains the deep, inner meanings to the devotees, prays at the divine feet of Periya Perumal and others, accepts the prasadam presented to Periya Perumal, then purifies his disciples with his divine, nectar like speech, I pray to that Manavala Mamunigal.

Shloka 8:
Who tastes the nectar that is meditating on the Lord and the acharyas, who is unable to bear even the smell of samsaris, who is involved in the service to the Lord's divine feet in all three time periods, who does not commit the sin of not following the rules laid out in the Shastras which are His divine command, who became the acharya for all acharyas by becoming His acharya, I pray to that Manavala Mamunigal, to attain what I seek.
