One time Bhattar while having his food asked Nanjeeyar to recite Azhvar's pasurams. Nanjeeyar was then reciting the Kangulum Pagalum pasurams. When he recited the line "en thirumagal sEr mArvanE ennum ennudai AviyE ennum", Bhattar cried out "Ranga" and fainted.

Until that day this phrase had been broken up as "en thirumagaL sEr mArvanE ennum" and "ennudai AviyE ennum" - that is, the mother is repeating the two phrases said by Parankusa Nayaki calling out to the Lord as "Oh my Lord! with Sri Mahalakshmi in Your chest" and "Oh my soul!". However, as Nanjeeyar had recited them closely together, Bhattar heard it as Parankusa Nayaki saying "Oh soul of mine which calls out, oh my Lord with Sri Mahalakshmi in Your chest".

It is said that Bhattar was in such a trance at this time that Najeeyar became greatly concerned that the time had come for Bhattar to leave for His abode.
