When Bhattar was twenty eight years old, on Kaisika Dvadasi day, he was talking about Kaisika Purana in front of the Lord. Unlike previous times, he started giving out a great number of meanings for each phrase in the purana. Seeing this, the Lord gaining great happiness offered Bhattar His garland, His clothes, His jewels, His throne, etc and not being satisfied with that offered Him paramapadam. And Bhattar gratefully accepted it.

Later Bhattar would say "If I don't see the following, namely, the divine feet pressed on the lotus flower, the divine hand that removes fear, the divine crown, the divine smile, the fair, beautiful and divine face, and the kasturi thilakam on the forehead in Paramapadam (as seen in Namperumal), then I will rip a hole in a corner of paramapadam, jump down and come back (to Srirangam)".
