One time Amudhanar told Bhattar through another person "Bhattar is releated to Kuraththazhvan only through the body (being his son). I am related to him through knowledge (being his disciple)".

Bhattar replied "The words are right, but Amudhanar has said them himself".

That is, it is inapproriate to the nature of a srivaishnava to boast about one's close relationship with an acharya.
