One time Ramanuja took a young Bhattar to Lord Ranganatha and in His presence asked Bhattar to recite a sholka from one of Alavandar's works. Bhattar recited it beautifully and began to explain its meanings.

Hearing the wonderful meanings that Bhattar was bringing forth for the shloka, Ramanuja remarked to his close disciples "Treat Bhattar just as you would treat me".
