A Day in the Life of Our Acharyas

When Bhattar was living in Thirukkottiyur, his brother Seeramappillai asked him the following question: "Azhvar did not seek to enjoy the Lord in paramapadam and suffer because it can be only enjoyed at another place at another time. He did not seek to enjoy the Lord in His vibhava avataras such as Rama and Krishna and suffer because his time is much after the avatara times. He is seeking to enjoy Him in the divyadesas and that too in Thirumalirunjsolai. Yet, instead of fully enjoying Azhagar, he is suffering (Thiruvaymozhi 3-1). How is that?"

Bhattar replied "The Lord is the same whether He is in paramapadam, in vyUham, in vibhavam or in archa form. He is complete in all forms. If one appears to be less to some people, it is because of their own drawbacks.

A person may go to the beach to enjoy the ocean fully, but can enjoy it only up to the capacity of his eyes. Similarly, Azhvar wishes to enjoy the pUrNa archa form and all the auspicious qualities of Azhagar completely, but he is suffering because he is not able to do that".
