Thiruppavai Pasuram 2 - 'vaiyaththu vAzhvIrkAL'

Here Andal describes the gOpikas as those who live in this world. Being in SriVaikuntam when the Lord is in Gokulam is like being in prison. This is similar to being in Ayodhya when Rama went to the forest; or being in Mathura when Krishna is in Ayppadi. Thus, it is the gOpikas in Ayppadi who are with Krishna that truly 'live'.

In describing this, it is shown that Dasaratha's position is that of love to Rama, as he died unable to handle separation from Him.

Nanjeeyar asked Bhattar "Why did Dasaratha who loved Rama so much, that he died unable to tolerate separation from Him, attain only svarga and not gain liberation (mOksha)?"

Bhattar replied "ivanukkuLLadhu naragamE; perumAL AnrushamsyaththAlE svargasthan AnAn". That is, "He (Dasaratha) should have actually gone to naraga, because he chose the ordinary dharma of speaking truth and let go of the para dharma who is Rama ("rAmO vigrahavAn dharma:"). Only because of the Lord's grace he even ended in svarga."
