Agalangabrahmarayar began building a wall inside Srirangam around the temple. This wall is called as 'adaiyavaLaindhAn'. The home of Ilaiyazhvan was in the way and he attempted to destroy the home.

Bhattar told him "Do not think that the wall you are building is the protection for the Lord. It is the great devotees such as Ilaiyazhvan who live around here that protect Him. What you are doing is a good thing, no doubt. But don't develop an ego that these are your acts. Understand that He is doing all this through you. That is the way to your liberation."
