Vyakhyana Saram:
In the prior pasuram, Azhvar said that He is the means. If the
fruit of liberation is for the soul, then would not the means
too be by the soul? Azhvar replies - if one looks at the state
of the soul, one sees that it knows neither the past nor the
future and does not understand the present; if one looks at
His nature, He knows everything (the chetana's good and the
bad) and He has complete power (to give the chetanas what they
need). Therefore, it is clear that only He can be the means and
not the chetana.
