bhakti: prapattiratha vA bhagavan! taduktis tanniShThasamshraya itIva vikalpyamAnam | yatki~nchidekamupapAdayatA tvayaiva trAtAs tarantyavasare bhavino bhavAbdhim ||
Meaning:
bhagavan - O! Deepa Prakasha, bhavina: - The Samsaris trAtA: - who are protected tvayA eva - by You only, vikalpyamAnam - who ascertains iti iva - thus upapAdayatA - that they have done yatki~nchit ekam - any one of bhakti: - Bhakti, prapatti: - Sharanagati, atha vA - or tad ukti - expressed the word sharaNam, samshraya: - or sought tat niShTha - those who have performed one of these, taranti - cross bhava abdhim - the Samsara ocean avasare - at the appropriate time.
Vyakhyana Saram:
In the prior shloka, Swami Desikan said "netum yatase". For
Him to do that, He needs a pretext. That is explained in
this shloka.
The Shastras do not show just one means to reaching Him. They show several means such as Bhakti, Prapatti, just making the statement "I surrender" or seeking an elevated soul such as an acharya or a bhAgavata who follow these paths. He Himself makes one of these happen and uses that pretext to protect the samsaris.
